Food for Love

By Elizabeth Harfleet Food and romance have been intricately woven together for centuries, and what better time than Valentines Day to take a closer look at this intriguing relationship. In this article, Manchester based nutritional therapist, Elizabeth Harfleet discusses aphrodisiacs to give you food for thought! The candlelit dinner of gourmet cuisine, against a shimmering backdrop of sweet violins, conjures up a cosy image of romantic contentment. However, in bygone times, well before the advent of eateries, men and women had to find alternative ways to tantalise their taste buds and desires! Those who have studied the history of aphrodisiacs will be aware that our ancestors would indulge in such delicacies as a pint of honey, taken with vast quantities of pine nuts to boost their success in the love stakes. The result was a supposedly unforgettable night; its not difficult to imagine why! In more recent times, chocolate, oysters, asparagus and even celery have earned a reputation for their supposedly aphrodisiac qualities. Indeed, nutritional therapist agree that a high intake of fresh fruit and vegetables, especially those rich in vitamins, minerals and anti-oxidants, have an energising effect and a positive effect on sexual performance. Chocolate is in a category of its own. Despite originating from the cocoa bean, a chocolate bar is hardly a vegetable! Chocolate, especially the plain varieties, contains iron and anti-oxidants as well as less helpful caffeine, fat and sugar. Its combination of hormone-mimicking ingredients can induce a feel good factor, adding to its appeal. This explains why we might crave chocolate when were feeling a bit down, or around menstruation. If you must eat it opt for the darker varieties. They are much richer, so you will tend to eat less. Or better still, try carob, an alternative which has a chocolaty flavour. So, this Valentines night, you know exactly what to do. Dont bother trying to seduce your man with French cuisine just open a jar of honey! NPI Number - Who Is Required to Have Them by May 23, 2007

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Michele_Redmond] Michele Redmond Many people believe that the NPI number was initiated by the HIPAA Act of 1996. Actually, the NPI number was initiated by CMS (Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services) in July of 1993. CMS wanted a national identification system for all healthcare providers and many of the existing identifiers did not meet the standards for national standards. The HIPAA Act of 1996 required the adoption and use of a standard unique identifier for healthcare providers. All covered healthcare providers will be required to have an NPI number by May 23, 2007. The National Provider Identifier, or NPI, is a 10 position, all numeric, identification number assigned by the NPS to uniquely identify a healthcare provider. If you are an individual healthcare provider you will need to apply for an NPI number under your individual name. If you belong to a medical group, you will need an NPI number for the group and an NPI number for each individual healthcare provider in the group. Medical Billing Services are not eligible for NPI numbers because they are not a covered healthcare provider. A covered healthcare provider is any provider who transmits any health information in electronic form. NPI numbers will replace the healthcare providers Medicare provider number, Medicaid provider number, Champus provider number, UPIN number, and all other payors unique provider numbers (such as Blue Cross Blue Shield). NPI numbers will not replace tax id number or social security number, DEA number, taxonomy number, or license number. Once an NPI number is assigned to a covered healthcare provider it will not change. NPI numbers will travel with a healthcare provider if they move from one geographical location to another. NPI numbers can be deactivated if the healthcare provider is deceased or goes out of business. NPI numbers will not be reissued to a different healthcare provider once they have been deactivated. Covered healthcare providers can apply for their NPI number from now until May 23, 2007. Applications began being accepted in May of 2005. I strongly recommend that you apply immediately. There is no reason to put it off. The closer it gets to the deadline, the busier the application process will become. Any changes in information need to be reported to NPPES within 30 days of the change. NPI numbers can be obtained by completing an online application which takes about 20 minutes. Michele Redmond is co-owner of Solutions Medical Billing with her mother, Alice Scott. Together they are responsible for the billing needs of over 50 covered healthcare providers. They assist providers with obtaining NPI numbers, as well as other credentialling tasks. Using Flyers In Your Business

By Sue And Chuck DeFiore If you are not using flyers in your business you are missing out. Flyers can be used to sell your product, promote your product, promote your services, and in a number of other areas. Our lease purchasing students learn very quickly the importance of using flyers. Flyers, however, are not exclusive to lease purchasing. They are useful in almost every business I can think of. Im sure there might be a business out there they dont work for, but I cant think of one. To give you an idea of how we use them in lease purchasing. We use them after we get a property, by making up a flyer with the property characteristics, along with what we are asking for the property and the terms. We will place these flyers in various areas around the property, and we also use them to market in a number of other areas. In addition, this same flyer is faxed or emailed to our networking partners. We use flyers to announce our seminars to various clubs and organizations. We also have a specific flyer for our seller and tenant buyer do it yourself manuals. We place this flyer in apartment complexes and a variety of other areas to get manual sales. We have different flyers for sellers, tenant buyers, manual sales, seminars, and properties. We also have a number of different versions of each. Many times after placing flyers up around a property we just left, by the time we get back to the office we will have messages regarding the flyer we placed. For those of you running businesses other than lease purchasing, you can also use flyers in your business. Flyers can be used to announce a Grand Opening or the re-opening of a business, the addition of a new product line, basically any number of things. They are a lot cheaper than running a ad, in addition to giving you a lot of space to say and/or show what your business does. You can have a couple thousand of flyers made up and place them on cars in parking lots, or use a mailing service to mail them to a particular neighborhood. You can have another publication place your flyer in with their mailing or you can have someone hand them out. You can mail them to current customers to announce an upcoming event or product. You can put a coupon on them and offer a discount, or dollars off amount. So what are you waiting for. Do up a flyer and see how it can increase your profits. Diamond Engagement Ring, on Two Months Salary - Maybe Not!

By Brock Hammill Diamond spending - well, that is up to you. What to spend on a diamond is a tough and personal question. Two months’ salary is a guideline. Chances are if you are looking for a diamond then you have heard that you should pay two months’ worth of salary. I would like to remind you that this won’t work for everybody. There are lots of other things to consider when looking at the cost. * Diamond vs Setting The two months’ salary rule applies to the whole engagement ring and not just the diamond. This means that you will have to find a balance between the price of the setting and the price of the diamond. Do you want a huge diamond and don’t really care about the setting or do you want a custom platinum setting with accent diamonds and then whatever diamond you can afford. Whatever number you decide on you will then want to get the most ring and diamond for that amount of money. Shopping online for a diamond engagement ring is a very smart choice. The rings and the diamonds will be much cheaper and of better quality. A good online store will have a return policy that guarantees the ring for 30 days or more. Note: The price of the ring does not represent how much you love that person. A couple of things to consider. Expectations Your fiance maybe expecting a very nice ring that is out of your budget. In this case you have two choices: go in debt or explain to her that that would not be a good idea to spend that kind of money especially before your wedding. In the end the price of the ring will impact her life because your financial situations will merge after the wedding. If she wants the big ring she will marry the debt also. Buying a good quality diamond is an investment that will not lose money. In fifty years this diamond will be worth more than you paid for it. Just ask your dad how much he paid for your mom’s diamond. Be practical. You must take a look at your lifestyle and your income to determine what you should spend. You will also need to look at whom you are going to give this diamond to. Does she like rock climbing and fixing fences or cruising on a yacht in the Mediterranean. When it comes down to it, most women would pick an engagement ring that is going to cost less than what you are going to spend. WHY? Because women are practical (most). They will be impressed by whatever you get them because they know you put a lot of time and effort into selecting it. Your Snowflake Stopper Could Keep Your Summer Wedding Nice and Cool

By Terry Price When it comes to planning your wedding, there are plenty of things you need to think about and there never seems to be enough time to do them all! There are lots of different topics that you should be familiar with prior to planning and arranging your wedding. Everything from flowers to photographers, right down to the snowflake shaped wine stopper. You should do some homework so your wedding day will be the truly enjoyable event that you want it to be! You have only one chance to make this day as perfect as possible. When booking your reception hall, there are some important questions you need to ask. Once you’ve narrowed down the venue or location you want, here are significant things you need to ask. When it comes to interviewing the management, keep in mind that you are not there just doing them a favor. They are a business and you are hiring this company to provide a very important service, so you shouldn’t hesitate to ask them all the questions you want. Before any funds are turned over, make sure first of all you are dealing with a reputable company and that your representative is experienced. Ask how long the company has been in business, and how many events they have hosted, and if in fact, they have hosted weddings the same size you are planning. Ensure they have up-to-date health permits and proper licenses, and ask what kind of insurance coverage they have. Always ask for several references and phone numbers of folks they have served in the past. Be sure to follow up. Call these people and do some digging to see what their experience has been. Find out, for instance, whether the snowflake wine stopper is included in the price, or not. You will find that the majority of reception halls just rent out the space, and everything else including those special wedding favors you may want, you will have to supply yourself. In fact, you may have to supply the chairs, tables, table settings, favors, food and even the servers! On the other side of the coin, there are halls that offer package deals and take care of everything which includes the setup, clean-up, food, favors, stocked bar, servers, wedding cake, champagne toast, valet parking, coat check and yes, even the silver snowflake stopper, if you’ve requested it. You’ll find that most reception halls fall somewhere in between these two extremes. If the hall offers on-site catering, don’t make the assumption that they will automatically provide tableware, glassware or even the flatware, as this cost might be extra. If you’re planning a casual wedding with a potluck buffet to cut costs, make sure the hall can accommodate that arrangement. Be sure to check if the servers, coat check, valet parking, etc, are included in the cost, or if there is there an additional cost. How about providing food or beverages for your band or DJ, for the wedding professionals and the photographer, and are they included in the head count. Get an itemized list of everything they include right down to the snowflake stopper, if you request it! Ask also about which services they do not offer, just to be very clear. How about other events planned for the same day? Many halls have multiple event rooms and you need to know exactly what type of event is going on before, during, and after your wedding reception. Are the rooms divided by removable partitions? This is important as you could get DJ sounds pouring through from another event and drowning out your band. If your event lasts a long time, will you have to hurry your guests out to accommodate another crowd coming in? This is especially important during the busy wedding season, which falls between May and October. Saturdays, also, are the most popular day, so remember that a popular facility with multiple halls may be fully booked and hosting more than one event. Know exactly what you can expect and ask the managers how they are prepared to handle the crowds. In the event something goes wrong, find out whether office staff or management will be on site for the event. This is important as your parking valet may not show up or the plumbing in one of the bathrooms may pose a problem. If something does go wrong, you will want the peace of mind to know that a qualified person will have the experience and authority to take care of the crisis for you. Know where to find them and request that a person with qualifications and experience is provided. Finally, get a detailed explanation of their financial policies, when the deposit is due, how much they require, are installment payments acceptable, and when the final payment is due. Also, are there overtime charges, if so how much and what is their refund policy? Are there any guarantees or warranties? Get everything in writing so there are no misunderstandings, and get a complete understanding of each issue before you sign up!
